21st Century Program - Fall Semester Class Explanations Classes Start 8/26 - End 12/7

Morning Classes  7:15 - 8:15 am

Academic Support Mon, Tues, Thurs

This class is before school and will help students with questions on their homework.  The student will practice the skills needed to succeed in their content class.



MakerSpace Tues, Thurs

  Makerspace is taking the world by storm!  Imagine DIY meets education, ideas made from the students brought to life.  Hands on inquiry is based upon a pile of materials and a plan.



 
K Pop 7:15-8:10  Tues, Thurs
      On Wednesday mornings, we will study Korean culture, language and history through K-Pop music, videos, and popular cultural icons. We will start by looking at how K-Pop originated and go on to analyze the videos and music associated with this cultural movement to better understand Korean culture, and the impact that it is currently having on our own culture. We will also look at how this phenomenon is transforming the music industry, as well as world culture.


Afternoon Classes
6th Grade Academic Support 2:30 - 4:00  Mon  Tues
   Open to 6th graders only to come after school to have a quiet space to complete homework and get support in completing their assignments. 


Creativity Club 2:30 - 4:30 Mon

Students will explore their creativity in creating a bullet journal.  Areas of art may include drawings of different styles, painting sketches, and calligraphy.  Students will work goal setting and their organization skills.


Creative Writing 2:30 - 5:00 Mon, Thurs

Students will engage in a wide range of writing formats, from poetry to short stories to novels.  Creative writing allows students to truly express themselves and explore themselves as writers.


KMS Tech Hui 2:30 - 5:00 Mon, Thurs

The KMS Tech Hui is a STEM student organization that engages students in engineering, computer technology, science education, robotics, and vocational career fields and classes, through various STEM competitions held throughout the school year.



 Arts and Crafts    2:30 - 3:30 Tues Thurs

Students will use a variety of different mediums such as paint, fabric and yarn and will be doing various projects to help develop and enhance their creativity.



Dance 2:30 - 5:00 6th Grade Thurs Class starts Sept 10th

Students will learn the fundamentals of dance including footwork, theory, and vocabulary.  Choreography will be directed by the instructor. Styles taught will include:ballet, jazz, modern and hip-hop.

Hamilton Club 2:30 - 5:00 Tues

In Hamilton Club, students will study the history of America through the lens of Alexander Hamilton and the Broadway musical that tells his story. We will also study the elements of musicals and listen to the music of this musical which has been sweeping the nation and has a rather large fan base. We will also take a look at pop culture and how it impacts our lives and our nation (as well as other nations).
